Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has presented a budget estimate of N104,922,472,305:00 to the State Legislators for the 2018 fiscal year.
The 2018 budget tagged “budget of enhanced economic growth and development” according to the Governor is made up of N51,987,602,173:00 as recurrent expenditure and N52,934,870,132.00 as capital expenditure.
According to the Governor, the major policy thrust of the budget is to provide a secured livelihood for the people of Gombe state and to restore their confidence in democratic system, through the provision of opportunities that will enhance economic growth and development with special focus on the following areas;
Continued transformation of education sector, provision of physical infrastructure, transformation of agricultural sector, rural and urban transformation, provision of health care services as well as implementation of social transformation and safety nets programmes especially for youth, women, physically challenged and rural poor.
Other areas of focus include; generation of employment opportunities for the teaming youth and ensuring security and peaceful coexistence of the people of Gombe State.
The Governor expressed appreciation to the people of Gombe State and to the House Members for their understanding and support during the 2017 fiscal year occasioned by the economic recession and commended the Federal Government for the concerted efforts made in ensuring that the nation came out of the economic recession.
Governor Dankwambo however, appealed for continued support and cooperation of the people and the house members to enable the administration succeed in enhancing growth and development at Gombe State.
