Gombe State House of Assembly has been inaugurated on Friday with Alhaji Sadiq Abubakar Ibrahim Kurba elected as the Speaker.
This followed a proclamation letter sent to the House by the State Governor Alhaji Mohammadu Inuwa Yahaya and read on the floor by the Clark, Alhaji Shehu Mohammed Atiku.
Inaugurating the sixth Assembly, the Clark of the House charged the members to be more committed to their duties as people representatives where he sworn in the speaker Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq and the Deputy Speaker Alhaji Shuibu Adamu Haruna who are representating Yamaltu West and Kwami East constituencies respectively.
The Speaker Alhaji Sadiq Abubakar Ibrahim later sworn in the other members in different batches charging them to be honest and prudent in executing their duties and also thanked their collogues for giving him the mandate of the House.
He promised to carry all the members along in discharging his duties with their loyalty and support, the House afterwards pronounced Markus Samuel of Pero Chonge as Majority leader while Sadam Bello Sale of Funakaye North as the Deputy majority Leader.
Others elected are Majority Whip, Musa Buba of Balanga North and Yahaya Mohammed Kaka as Deputy Majority Whip from Akko North while Alhaji A. Ahmadu of Nafada North was elected as Minority Leader and Rambi Ibrahim Ayala of Billiri East as the Deputy Minority Leader. Tukfutuk Memli Kardi Minority Whip and Asama’u M Iganus as Deputy Minority whip.
After the inauguration, the State Governor who was represented by Senator Umar Idris Hinna, commended the sixth Assembly for their maturity at the inauguration, promising to work hand in hand with the members.
He charged them to passed bills and resolutions that when implemented will better the lives of the electorates and also urgied them to be up and doing in their oversight function which is one of their cardinal constitutional responsibilities.
