In its effort to address environmental challenges in the state, Gombe state Government has flagg-off the Gombe Goes Green – 3G project.
The project which is aim at planting one million trees each year during the first four years tenure of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s administration is to equally generate jobs for the idle youths of the state.
Speaking at the flagg-off ceremony, the state Governor said that special attention will be given to the environment so as to halt desert encroachment raverging the state and other environmental challenges. He maintained that, deforestation and poor land use have been some major causes of erosion resulting into destruction of Agricultural lands, loss of lives, homes and properties, devastation of roads and other infrastructural facilities nothing that, the solution is planting of trees to project the environment.
He call on all individuals in the state to key in and plant a tree to complement Government efforts adding that, protecting the environment is the responsibility of all.
In a separate remark, at the occasion, the Chairman Abdulllahi Mahdi Foundation, professor Abdullahi Mahdi and Acting Vice Chancellor of Gombe State University of Science and Technology and the Emir of Dukku Alhaji Haruna Rashhed commended the Governor for initiating the Gombe Goes Green Project and ensure him of their to both Mahdi Foundation and Dukku Emirate.
