In his effort to ensure that workers who have served the state and retired enjoy a comfortable life, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has commenced the payment of arrears of gratuity to the retired Civil Servants in the state.

It will be recalled that, the Governor inherited a backlock of arrears of gratuity of over ten billion naira for state and Local government retirees from the previous administration of Ibrahim Hassan Damkwambo.

Addressing the pensioners at the Treasury House Headquarters , the Governor, who was represented by Secretary to the state government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi said that as a responsible government, the present administration deem it necessary to come to the plight of the retirees within shortest possibly time.

He said arrangements have been completed for a hitch free exercise adding that the payment would be from 2014.

Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya uses the ceremony to condole with the families of some deceased beneficiaries saying that “it is the wish of every worker to collect his retirement benefit after successful retirement but could not see the day. Our heartfelt condolences to those families.

Chairman of the committee and State Auditor General, Alhaji Mohammed Buba Gombe said that the committee has made proper arrangement for the smooth exercise.
