The State deputy Governor Mr Charles Yau Iliya says government place priority on the health of citizens in the state therefore it cannot compromise standards in the provision if quality health care.
The Deputy Governor who made this known to members of the Nigerian Association of Patent and Proprietary Medicine Dealers Gombe State when they paid him courtesy call in his office stressed that health is key to every development, hence the need to give it all the necessary attention.
He commended the members of the Association for engaging in life saving business thereby complementing government efforts in area of health care delivery, but was quick to advice that they should not allow those who deal with illicit drugs to spoil their integrity.
He noted that illicit drugs renders people irresponsible and useless, and government can never condone those who have the habit of trying to destroy the people especially the youths, calling on the members of the Association to assist in fishing out the bad eggs amongst them so that the wrath of law shall descend upon them.
Earlier in his address, the Chairman on the Medicine Dealers Association Alh. Salisu Abdulhaziz, also known as Mister B. explained to the Deputy Governor that they were in his office to demonstrate their loyalty and show appreciation to the administration for quality leadership which includes provision of security that makes life easier towards progress and development.
He said the group knows the extent of their contributions to humanity and are therefore very stern in avoiding sales of illicit drugs that have negative effects on the society, pledging to continue to support the administration of Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo for overall development of the state.
He appealed to the government to consider its members when it comes to provision of dividends of democracy like allocation of seats to Mecca and Jerusalem among others, saying they are praying for Dankwambo to become the president of Nigeria.
In a related development the Association of master Bakers and caterers Association of Nigeria Gombe Chapter has applauded the contributions of the Dakwambo led administration to the upliftment of their profession and business for the socio economic development of the state.
The Chairman of the Association Alh. Muhammad Gidado Sani who made the applause on behalf of the members during a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor in his office, said they are aware that over fifty modern comprehensive Baking Equipment were supplied awaiting distribution to the members in the state.
The Chairman noted that since the Association began in Nigeria in nineteen fifty six (1956) after the inputs of president Shehu Shagari, the next President to transform the Baking Industry was President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan who assisted the members across the country with complete modern Baking Equipment and a loan of not less than Ten Million naira to each beneficiary, thanking Governor Dankwambo for continuing from where President Goodluck stopped.
He said the members of the Association have benefited from loans and other incentive by the Dankwambo led administration, pledging their continued loyalty for the betterment of the lives of the citizenry.
In his remarks, the Deputy Governor Mr. Charles Yau Iliya thanked the members of the Association for acknowledging the contribution of the government and in turn expressed government’s appreciation to the members for engaging in a notable business that provides food and employment to the teeming people in the state.
Mr Charles Yau Iliya assured that government shall continue to support any person or group of persons that showed commitment to human development.
He assured the opportunity to stress the need for the members to strictly adhere to the law that prohibits the use of Bromate in producing bread and confectioneries considering its harmful nature to the system.
