First set of 95 out of 254 repentant Boko Haram members have been discharged at Gombe

The first set of Ninety Five out of Two hundred and Fifty Four repentant members of Boko Haram who have being receiving training since July last year at the Mallam Sidi orientation camp under the deradicalazation and rehabilitation programme of Operation Safe Corridor Nigeria have been discharged.

The programme which is a Federal Government Initiative is aimed at disabusing the minds of cruel ideologies of the Boko Haram and to reintegrate them into the society.
Those discharged according to the Commandant are 75 adults and 20 minors who had already received an intense training, spiritual counseling and cleansing from selected clergies for the to understand the teachings of a true religion, they were also given an elaborate psychotherapy lectures all in an effort to disabuse their minds from criminal ideologies of the deadly Boko Haram group.


The eight months training did not only centered on the spiritual and psychotherapy alone but they were also given an intensive training on various trades of their choice so that at the end of the training, they can be able to depend on themselves after being rehabilitated to the larger society.
In an address at the graduation ceremony, Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo asserts that, the situation to the problem is not only confrontational but dialogue as well; he thanked President Mohammadu Buhari for initiating the programme and various interventions to ensure its success. He charged the trainees to be of good in the conduct in the society urging them to make good use of the skills learnt.

 
The Chief of Defense staff and National Chairman, Operation Safe Corridor, General Abayomi Olanisakin represented by Rear Admiral Jonathan Ango said the department of Civil-Military Cooperation Defense Headquarters appreciated Gombe State Government for allowing them use the facilities and prayed that Government of North east will take further steps to ensure that the discharged members succeed.
