National Boundary Commission Resolve Gombe- Yobe Boundary Conflict

Gombe state Deputy Governor and Chairman State Committee Mr. Charles Yau Iliya has committed the available way the border issues between the Yobe and Gombe state was resolved.

Mr. Charles Yau Iliya who was speaking after at a meeting of the two states, under the Chairmanship of National Boundary Commission said the exercise was complete show of love and maturity.

He expressed hope that manner in which the Gombe -Yobe  borders was peacefully resolved cloud be replicated in order parts of the country instead of armed conflicts that leads to destruction of lives and properties.

The Deputy Governor had earlier in his remark during the opening ceremony stressed that the two states are one and the same by  virtue of sharing common history and culture, urging participants to discuss issues dispassionately so that the good relationship between the two states would be cemented further.

In his address, the Deputy Governor of Yobe state represented by the Permanent Secretary Special Duties Alh. Bala Ali Mohammed commended the commitment expressed by the National Boundary Commission through sustained constructive engagements of the states noting that, it has yield the desire results.

In his own remarks, the Director General, National Boundary Commission Dr Mohammed Bose Ahmed who is also the Chairman of the occasion, commended the commitments of the two states are affected Local Governments and Traditional Authorities that have resulted in the impressive accomplishment recorded.

Reading the communique issued at the end, Director General pointed out the joint Field Team had executed its assignment successfully and the report was accepted and discussed at the meeting, and that the entire Gombe/ Yobe Interstate Boundary is therefore conclusively defined.

The meeting also agreed that the two State Governments, Border Local Government Area and the respective Traditional Authorities have committed themselves to peacefully coexistence and relationship amongst the Border Communities of the two states and that the Federal Government is urged to ensure the physical demarcation of the boundary on ground latest by the first quarter of the Twenty Nineteen (2019).

Highlight includes presentation of the signed agreements by the representative of the Deputy Governor of Yobe state to the Deputy Governor of Gombe State and vice versa.
