Governor Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe has sacked all the eleven Local Government Council Chairmen.

The governor made the announcement during his inaugural address to the people at the Pantami Stadium venue of his swearing – in ceremony. He directed secretaries of the various councils to overtake the affairs of the Local Governments in order to avoid any vacuum.

The governor reveils that, as part of his administration resolve to reengineer the Local Government for purposeful service delivery, appropriate steps to ensure that Local Government elections are conducted to usher in elected Chairmen and Councilors at the earliest appropriate time in line with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria would be taken.

“We will ensure that only responsible, credible, committed men and women are appointed or elected to take charge of Local Government affairs. This will bring sanity in Local Government administration and speedy development to the rural areas “ he noted.

Alhaji Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya while reveling his plan for Agriculture being the mainstay of the economy said “we would accord priority to Agricultural development in efforts to diversify the economy and ensure food security. Consequent upon this, we shall ensure timely and adequate supply of farming inputs such as fertilizer, pesticides, seeds etc, as well as provide agricultural credit facilities to farmers.

He noted with dismay the failure of the immediate administration to procure fertilizer and other necessarily farm inputs for distribution to farmers for this year’s farming season directing the state Ministry of Agriculture to with immediate effect work out modalities to promptly address  the issue looming but avoidable catastrophe.

He urge all to embrace agriculture which is the surest way to employment and poverty reduction in the society.
