Gov. Dankwambo Inaugurates Governing Council of Gombe State University of Science & Technology

The newly constituted governing council of the Gombe state University of Science and Technology Kumo has been inaugurated.

Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo who performed the exercise at the government house Gombe charged the council and management at the new institution to work towards making it an excellent center of learning, not only in Gombe state but the country in general.

Dankwambo said the University governing council which is the highest policy making body has Professor Boyi Yusuf Abubakar as Pro-chancellor and chairman of the council, members includes: Professor Fatima J. , Saura, Alhaji Haruna Mamuda, Nuhu Sada Laumara and M. K Ahmed.

Representatives came from Nigerian University’s commissions, permanent secretary ministry for Higher Education, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Justice, four representatives of Senate and a representative of congregation and convocation each, while Professor Abdullahi Mahdi will be the acting Vice-chancellor.

Governor Dankwambo said their careful selection is based on their professional qualifications and proven intergrity, charging them to source funds to run the university from within and outside Nigeria.

The Pro-chancellor professor Boyi Yusuf Abubakar who thanked Governor Dankwambo for giving them the task of tending the young University to maturity assured government and people of Gombe state that they would not relent in building the university to a citadel of excellent production of qualitative scientists that would drive the production sector of the country’s economy.

The acting Vice-chancellor, Professor Abdullahi Mahdi, Commissioner for Higher Education Dr. Isa Muhammad Wade and the Emir of Akko HRH Alh. Umar Moh’d Atiku who appreciated the Dankwambo administration for giving priority to the education sector, promised to contribute their best towards ensuring that the university stands on its feet.

Academic activities are expected to commence in the university during the 2018/2019 session.
