GOSEPA Launched Awareness Campaign on Lassa Fever

The Gombe State Environmental Sanitation and Protection Agency (GOSEPA) has flag off an awareness Campaign on the fight against Lassa fever. The event which took place at the palace of Mai Tangle, in Billiri Local Government Area is to educate the public on the dangers of Lasser fever, signs and symptoms of the disease and the preventive measures.

Speaking, the head of Public Health Department of the Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe Abu Ubaida Mua’zu, Ahmed Baba Tugga Assistant Primary Health Care Coordinator Akko Local Government and Mrs Maryam Abare, the Principal Health Technician highlighted how Lasser fever disease is contacted by humans and the possible preventive measures.

They Said Lasser fever spread easily and sixty percent of the victims do not survive and called on the general public to keep their environment clean so as to keep away from rats.

The specialists advised the public to cook their food well and always cover their food and as well as washing food that are cooked properly to avoid contact with the disease.

Other speakers include the state Commissioner of Environment and Forest Resources Haj. Sa’adatu Sa’ad Mustapha, the chairman Billiri Local Government Barr. Farouk D Lawini and Hon Rambi Ibrahim Ayala, Chairman House Committee on Environment and Water Resources stressed the importance of Sanitary Officers in the society and thanked GOSEPA for reversing the sanitary policies to keep the society clean.

Mai Tangle, Dr. Abdu Buba Maisheru , II in remark said Environmental cleanness is everybody’s concern and assured his continuous support to GOSEPA.

Commenting, the Special Adviser/General Manager GOSEPA Alh. Nasiru Haruna said the Agency with the baking of the State Governor is working towards ensuring a clean environment.

He said the Champaign will be carried to communities in the state.
