Plans are on the way by the Federal Government to make Gombe state a model in livestock production through the establishment of grazing reserve equipped with a school, vetenary clinic and other facilities that will enhance the value chain.

Minister of Agriculture, Alhaji Muhammad Sabo Nanono disclosed this when he paid a courtesy visit on Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya at the Government House.

He said the Ministry in collaboration with the state government would ensure the actualization of the said project adding that his visit to Gombe is in response to the State Governor’s visit to him where they discusses on how best to further develop agricultural activities in Gombe State.

The Minister said as a national asset, agricultural production in the country is worth over 30trillion naira which represents 17 percent of the Nation’s GDP, he called on states and individuals to key-in into the Agricultural Policies of the Federal Government which is aimed at poverty reduction in the country.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya told the Minister that his administration is ready to take the lead and key into the national livestock transformation plan and any other programme that will boost animal production, farming activities and guarantee food security in the state.

He said Gombe state has about 22 grazing reserves land, adding that his administration will strengthen partnership with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture for the overall development of Agricultural activities in the state.

While describing Gombe as an agrarian state with vast potentials, Governor Yahaya assured that he will continue to prioritize agriculture to the next level in line with his blueprint.

The Minister in company of the Governor visited and inspected the moribund Gombe State ADP seed processing plant, Federal college of Horticulture Dadin-kowa and Wawa –zange grazing reserve in Dukku Local Government.
